"Women are the backbone of all societies. They do a substantial part of the work, and play a major role in raising the future generation yet they are largely powerless. The decisions that count are made by men and foisted upon women."

An Ode To Writing

To be able to write is to know the heady feeling of the eagle flying high above his immense domain. It is to give wings to your ideas and see them come to life. To be able to write is to have the power to reach thousands of people and talk to them directly without ever being interrupted.  To be able to write allows you to make profound changes in the society you live in, for indeed there is nothing mightier than the pen.

The ideas of writers have caused revolutions and wars; have brought peace, order and tranquillity; have introduced new philosophical concepts; and have brought men closer to God, or conversely destroyed their faith.

A writer can bring forth mirth, or can make your eyes mist. A writer can make your heart beat faster as he takes you, on a spaceship, to another planet; or takes you back in time when the first Christians were bringing their mighty message to the world.

As a child, I often wondered what it was that allowed a writer to perform these magical feats. There is this thing called talent I was told.  It is a capability given to a person that allows him to do what he does.  I was to find out later that the aptitude given to a writer belongs not only to him, but to the whole of humanity.  It is a gift that should be shared, and it should be used responsibly.

Four centuries ago, Shakespeare weaved words into a brilliant tapestry.  His plays belong to all of us, and we can all enjoy the incredible beauty of his writing.

While I greatly admired writers, I never dreamed I would one day have one under my own roof!

My wife was the original writer in the family.  The normal human desire to emulate allowed me to discover my own talent.  The internet opened new vistas, and made it possible to share my thoughts with thousand of strangers across the world.

My writing talent when joined to the internet has proved to be a felicitous marriage.  And my readers have shared  this God-given gift.
