"Women are the backbone of all societies. They do a substantial part of the work, and play a major role in raising the future generation yet they are largely powerless. The decisions that count are made by men and foisted upon women."

What Women Want – XXI. Shopping (2 of 5)

Male in distress!

You’ve been informed that women prefer to leave the guy
behind when they go shopping.  There are occasions, however, when
they demand that he accompany them.  They will do so when he can
prove to be more of an asset than a liability.  What are the
circumstances under which a woman will drag a “dead-weight,”
constantly complaining, man after her?

1. He is expected to play the role of a living (if
unwilling) wallet.  In other words, he is expected to pick up the
tab.

2. They are buying appliances and/or furnitures for the
house.  Like it or not, he has to be part of the process.

3. She is helping him buy his own clothing.

That’s been the story of my life.  Under no circumstances
was I allowed to buy clothes unsupervised.  (That was true long
before I even got married).

4. He is here to offer (quite unwillingly) his opinion.

Here we have a scenario that goes back to Adam and Eve.

She comes out of the fitting room and asks, “Honey does that
dress makes me look fat?”

There are 3 possibilities:  a) It makes her look “bulkier.”
b) She looks good in it.  c) You have absolutely no idea and
therefore cannot proffer an opinion.

Since you intend to live to a ripe old age, a) is for all
intents and purposes not an option.  b) is greeted with
suspicion.  “You’re lying to me.”  c) in most cases would be the
truth, however, you’re here to give your views; and come hell or
high water, you must.

Thinkers and philosophers have pondered over this difficult
issue for centuries.  Apparently, b) is the only road you can
take.  You, of course, need to convince her that you’re telling
the “truth.”

In all seriousness, a shopping trip with the woman in your
life can be fun, specially if you’re buying something you both
desire.

Do be patient, however, while waiting by the fitting room.
Take a good book.  And who knows, you may get a chance to ogle a
sexy young thing, in a relative state of undress, coming out of
the room, to ask her boyfriend whether the dress she is trying on
makes her look fat!
